The cat flea is the most common species in and around homes, on cats and dogs and urban wildlife.

American Dog Tick
The American dog tick is the most common tick species in Kansas. It attacks a wide variety of animals including people. They are especially common on dogs. This species is the primary vector of Rocky Mountain spotted fever though out the United States, except in the Rocky Mountains. It also transmits tularemia.
Clover mites are a common nuisance in and around Kansas houses. Although most noticeable in the fall and again in the spring, they also may be troublesome on calm, sunny days in the winter. This pest is not an insect but a true mite, slightly smaller than the head of a pin with a reddish or reddish-brown body.When the mites are crushed, they leave rusty or blood-red spots.
